Dictate is provided by Mohamed Makled. For privacy questions, contact support@mmcapitals.com.
Speech and transcripts
Speech recognition and optional transcript polishing run on your Mac. Audio, transcripts, vocabulary and snippets are not sent to the Provider, RevenueCat or a cloud transcription service. Temporary recordings are deleted after processing or cancellation. A crash may leave a temporary file until macOS clears temporary storage.
Local storage
Settings, vocabulary, snippets and the count of successful free dictations are stored locally in the App’s container. Recent transcripts are kept in memory. If you enable history, Dictate saves up to 200 transcripts locally; switching history off clears saved history. Uninstalling the App may leave its container on your Mac; you can remove remaining local data through macOS file management.
Microphone and paste access
Microphone permission lets Dictate record your voice. Global shortcuts use registered hot keys and need no Input Monitoring permission. Escape is registered only while a dictation is active. Paste access lets it post Command–V into the target app. Dictate does not monitor or save your keyboard input. For automatic paste, it temporarily writes the transcript to the system clipboard and attempts to restore the prior clipboard afterward. When you choose manual copy or paste recovery is needed, the transcript remains on the clipboard. Other software with clipboard access may read it.
Speech-model downloads
Model files are downloaded from Hugging Face and its delivery providers. These providers receive ordinary connection information, including your IP address and the requested model files. Dictate does not include audio or transcripts in those requests. See Hugging Face’s privacy policy. Model files remain on your Mac so speech recognition can work offline.
Purchases
Apple processes in-app payments. Dictate uses RevenueCat to validate purchases, maintain the Dictate Pro entitlement and restore purchases. RevenueCat processes a randomly generated App User ID, purchase history, product and transaction identifiers, purchase status and dates, and app, platform and store metadata. The Provider can view purchase records in RevenueCat. No name, email, payment-card details, audio or transcripts are supplied by Dictate to RevenueCat. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy.
Purchase processing provides the paid functionality you request. Purchase records are retained as needed to provide and restore your entitlement and meet applicable obligations. RevenueCat may process data outside your country under its published data-processing terms.
Analytics and tracking
Dictate has no advertising, advertising identifiers, cross-app tracking or additional analytics SDK. RevenueCat’s dashboard provides purchase analytics. We do not sell your data.
Support and your choices
If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to answer your request. You can revoke system permissions in System Settings, clear history in Dictate, and request access, correction or deletion of personal data by contacting support. You may also have rights to restriction, objection, portability and a complaint to your local data-protection authority. A purchase reference or anonymous RevenueCat identifier may be needed to locate purchase records.
