Margly support

Margly is a personal EPUB reader for iPhone and iPad. Read your books, highlight passages, write notes and find your thoughts across your library.

Import your first book

Tap + in the library and choose an EPUB from Files. You can also use Open in from another app, or drag an EPUB into the library on iPad. Margly keeps a local copy. Files stored in iCloud Drive may need to finish downloading first.

Supported books

Margly supports unprotected, reflowable EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 files up to 100 MiB. PDF, MOBI, DRM-protected books and fixed-layout EPUBs are not supported. Each EPUB can contain up to 10,000 files, at most 50 MiB per resource and 500 MiB uncompressed in total. Margly does not include a bookstore or book catalog.

Read and take notes

Open a book and hold a word to select text, then choose Highlight or Note. Use the reading controls for search, contents, bookmarks and appearance. The Notes tab collects your annotations across books. Search, filter and assign topics to find passages again.

Free library and Margly Pro

The free library holds three books with all reading, annotation and export features. Books in Trash count toward the limit; permanently deleting a book frees a slot. Margly Pro removes the import limit with a one-time in-app purchase. The App Store shows your local price before confirmation. There is no subscription. Existing books always remain readable.

Restore a purchase

Use the Apple Account that made the purchase. Open Settings → Restore purchases, or choose Restore purchases on the Pro screen. An internet connection may be required to verify your purchase. If Pro is still missing, contact support with your App Store order reference. Never send your password or payment-card details.

Back up your library

Open Settings → Data and backup → Create backup, then save the file outside Margly. A backup includes original EPUBs, annotations, bookmarks, collections, covers and reading defaults. It is not encrypted by Margly; anyone who receives it can read its contents. Restore works only into an empty library and does not merge libraries. Backups are limited to 4 GB. Without an independent backup, deleting the app or losing your device can lose your local library.

A passage cannot be located reliably

If Margly cannot safely match a saved annotation to its original passage, it keeps the quote and note and shows a warning instead of displaying an approximate highlight. You can still edit and export the annotation. Contact support with the app version and a description; avoid sending private or copyrighted book content.
